The Estate
Location
Bethel Plantations is situated in the heart of Kerala’s Western Ghats, within the hill station of Kuttikanam, Idukki district. The estate spans nearly 7,000 acres of plantation land at elevations ranging from 3,500 to 4,500 feet above sea level.
This landscape is defined by rolling hills, gentle slopes, and interspersed flat plots. Combined with well-drained loamy soil and consistent rainfall, these conditions create a naturally suited environment for plantation agriculture in the region.

Landscape
Bethel Plantations spans 7,000 acres of hills, valleys, and wetlands in Kuttikanam, where springs and rainwater collected through ponds and dams sustain the estate. Shaded trees and forest edges blend seamlessly with cultivated fields, creating a home for native birds, insects, and other wildlife alongside the crops.
Mornings often rise in mist, drifting across valleys and ridges, while microclimates shaped by slope and elevation influence how crops grow. Life on the estate moves along these routes, from early morning harvests in mist-laden fields to the rhythm of daily processing and care.
Across seasons, Bethel thrives — a living landscape where cultivation, wildlife, and nature move together in quiet balance.
Philosophy
Farming at Bethel Plantations begins with reading the land. Crops are matched to slope, shade, and elevation, allowing each section to perform within its natural limits. Canopy, soil, and water are managed as interconnected systems, with decisions guided by long-term sustainability and the health of the estate.
Our approach reflects deep respect for the land and the life it supports. Protecting soil, maintaining natural drainage, and nurturing plants over time ensures the plantation thrives — sustaining both the ecosystem and the communities who rely on it. Practices are rooted in experience, refined continuously, and scaled thoughtfully to preserve productivity without compromise.
